Labatt Brewing Company Limited is Canada's largest brewer, with six breweries and about 3,300 employees in Canada, but it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ambev S.A. of Brazil, which is in turn controlled by AB InBev of Belgium. The beer is brewed in Canada with Canadian barley, so profit is the factor that leaves the country.

Ambev S.A.'s 2025 Form 20-F lists Labatt Brewing Co. Ltd. as an indirectly 100% owned subsidiary, and the same filing says Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV (Belgium) holds 62.3% of Ambev, with the Zerrenner foundation (Brazil) at 10.2% and other B3 and NYSE holders at 27.1%. The mix follows those shares; the split of the free float between Brazilian and US holders is an estimate. Corporations Canada shows the federal corporation active with a Toronto registered office and exempt from the significant-control register as a subsidiary of a listed company.

Labatt says it brews more than 70 brands at six breweries in Creston, Edmonton, London, Montreal, Halifax and St. John's, and its February 2025 release lists Budweiser, Bud Light, Busch, Corona, Stella Artois, Keith's, Michelob Ultra and Kokanee as made in Canada. A small share of the portfolio (Modelo, Pacifico, Hoegaarden, Leffe, Spaten, Beck's) is imported from Mexico and Europe; that share is my estimate, since no volume split is published.

Senior management reports into Ambev and AB InBev, and the current president came from AB InBev, but the workforce is in Canada.

Labatt states that Budweiser, Bud Light and Busch are made with 100 per cent Canadian barley, and The CANADA List describes sourcing as mixed. Hops, aluminum cans and the brand licences for Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois and Michelob Ultra come from AB InBev subsidiaries in the US and Europe; the split is my estimate because Labatt publishes no supplier breakdown.
